Field of Vision / Perimetry
Field of Vision is the Gold standard for diagnosis of Glaucoma.
Glaucoma is associated with arcuate defects involving the superior and inferior quadrants or at times double arcuate scotoma*.
Involvement of the Macula usually indicates a severe form of Glaucoma.
Repeated fields are used to monitor the progression of Glaucoma.
An arcuate scotoma typically follows the lines of the nerve fibres in the retina with the narrow end at the blind spots & broad end at the horizontal raphe**.
However differential diagnosis should also be kept in mind as follows:
- Vascular accident of optic Nerve
- Acute bleeding episode
- Drusen of the optic nerve.
- Chorioretinitis Juxtapapillaris
- High Myopia
- Coloborna of the disc
- Inferior conus
